Data Protection Policy

​The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on the 25th May 2018. Please read the Fylde Bird Club Data Protection Policy, which clarifies what we do with your personal data.  
Personal data means any information that we collect from you which allows us to identify you, such as your name, contact details and subscription payment details.
We collect personal data from you when you join Fylde Bird Club and when you renew your subscription each year. 
Specifically, we collect the following information:

  • Name
  • Home address
  • E-mail address (if relevant)
  • Telephone number
  • How you have paid your subscription (e.g. cash, cheque, on-line payment). Please note that we do not keep any details regarding your personal financial accounts (e.g. credit card details, bank account details). 

The personal data we collect is used to communicate with you (e.g. e-mailing newsletters, posting annual Bird Reports, text alert service).
Your personal data is retained on an Excel spreadsheet and is accessed primarily by the Fylde Bird Club Treasurer/Membership Secretary.  
The Fylde Bird Club committee may have access to your personal information. The information must be requested from the Treasurer/Membership Secretary by the committee member for a specified and relevant purpose. Your personal information is not shared with any other members of the Fylde Bird Club.
We do not pass on your personal information to any third party.
We will not retain your personal information for longer than is necessary to fulfil the purpose it is being processed for. Your personal data is retained while you are a current member of the Fylde Bird Club. We may retain your personal information if you do not renew your subscription, in case you wish to rejoin at a later date. We will retain this information for a period of two years from the expiry of your last subscription. 
When we no longer need your personal data, we will securely delete or destroy it. 
The Fylde Bird Club Treasurer/Membership Secretary will take on the role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) to oversee compliance with this policy.

You have the right to:
Request information about whether we hold personal information about you, and, if so, what that information is and why we are holding it.       
Request access to your personal information. This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We may need to request specific information from you to confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information. This is a security measure to ensure that personal information is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.
Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.
Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it.
