FreeThe Friends of Marton Mere are running their very popular pond-dipping sessions on Sunday the 19th May 2024
Beneath the surface of the water, there’s an unseen world of amazing wildlife ready to be discovered. Get dipping!
Session 1 – 1030-1200
Armed with pond nets, trays and picture charts we’ll go on an underwater adventure to find out!
You’ll swish your net in the pond and decant it into your tray, creating your very own mini pond where you can watch the water creatures. Our wildlife experts will be on hand to help you identify the creatures in your mini pond.
Common finds are water boatmen, water scorpions, pond skaters, dragonfly and damselfly larvae and pond snails, and if you’re lucky you might catch a smooth newt or a frog in your net!
Two 90 Minute sessions on the day and limited to 20 persons per session based on space around the pond.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by adult on a 1-2-1 basis but only 1 ticket s required for each adult/child.
